How To Take Care Of Your Skin During Winter

With the end of summer just round the corner, most people are on the lookout for ways and means to give their skin that much needed protection. Winter is the time when your skin needs a lot of care. We would need to take care of everything, from healing dry and chapped lips to bringing back the glow in sun-damaged skin.

Most of us like spending time outdoors during the winter months, since the chill in the air feels wonderful. But the effects of the sun on our skin are not quite damaging. How can we protect the skin from sun damage or make good the damage already been caused?

We can use a good quality sun-block while going out in the sun to keep our skin well protected. But wearing sunscreen everyday can leave skin feeling a bit irritated. We can try protective clothing instead to cover the areas that generally remain exposed, like the neck, face, and chest. Wearing a wide-brimmed hat is a good strategy if someone is planning to spend long hours in the sun.

During the winter months, we need to exfoliate on a regular basis to remove the dead skin cells and reveal the smoother skin from below. We can then use a good quality moisturizer to keep our skin hydrated and well nourished.

Too much of sun exposure can also exacerbate acne breakouts. Dermatologists suggest the use of gentle products that can fight this problem, without further irritating our complexion.

Exposure to sun, wind, and chlorine can dry out our lips. We can use a gentle scrub to smooth out the cracked lips and then apply a good quantity of moisturizer to keep them nourished. We can also start taking a daily vitamin supplement to improve both our overall health and our skin.
